Two heads snapped off on pull through Unfortunately, even though these hooks are beautiful, fit my hand perfectly, and have deep hooks, I cannot recommend them. I’ve had two heads snap off in the last week. The first time I thought I pulled too hard (J hook), but the second time the hook just seemed to be too weak to take the strain of a normal pull through (E hook). It may be that the wood is too brittle and after repeated use they develop cracks, or they can only take so much strain before they snap. I’ll be looking for…
Smooth with deep groove (throat) I love love love these hooks. My wife bought these for me for Christmas and I haven’t put them down. They are extremely smooth; they glide through stitches. The have a deep groove to help grab loops. I have had issues with aluminum hooks, they always seem to drop the loop as I try to pull it through the stitch. However, these are perfect for me.
