Hate it so far… I needed a 9mm hook for bulky yarn and saw this one at a great price with excellent reviews…so no brainer, I bought it. I’ve never used this type before and have to say that unfortunately, I hate it! I don’t get the rave reviews at all. Yes, it’s very lightweight and that’s why I didn’t give it just one star. Production quality seems great, it’s the design I can’t stand. What’s with the ridge on the shaft under the hook? All my yarn gets stuck there and I have to use my fingers to move it…
Good design on these can’t go wrong. I have a bunch of these in different sizes so this is kind of a general review. These were the ONLY style of crochet hook I could use at all when I first began crocheting. The other kind of hook design, where the hook part is not in line with the handle, made it impossible for me to crochet since I made my stitches very tightly. Have to love the Silvalume… good M There are Bates and Boye, if you crochet tight you may need the Boye to get your hook through easier. I tend to crochet looser, so I prefer the Bates style of hook. Also if you seem to hang up a lot using a Boye, catching and such a lot… try the Bates.I love the silvalume finish, it isn’t too slippery. I tend to almost exclusively use #4 worsted acrylic; this works very well for it. This is a size “M” or 9mm, I usually use it for #5 or #6 bulky; or running 2 or 3 strands…
